WordPress Form to Excel

Send WordPress form submissions straight into an Excel Online workbook on OneDrive - no Zapier, no CSV round-trip, no Google Sheets in the middle. Make Excel your primary destination or run it alongside Sheets.

The manual export problem

Most WordPress form plugins offer CSV export - but it's manual. You log into WordPress, navigate to form entries, click export, download the file, open it in Excel, clean up the formatting, and share it. Every time. Every week.

For teams that live in Excel (especially in enterprise environments running Microsoft 365), the ideal workflow is automatic: form submitted → data appears in Excel, no manual steps.

Direct Excel Online integration

SheetLink Forms connects a Microsoft 365 account directly and writes every form submission into an Excel workbook on OneDrive - no Google Sheets in the loop, no manual CSV downloads.

How it works:

  1. Open `SheetLink Forms -> Destinations -> Excel Online` in your WordPress admin.
  2. Click `Connect Excel`. A Microsoft sign-in window opens.
  3. Sign in with any Microsoft account (personal `@outlook.com` or work / school) and grant SheetLink Forms permission to read and write Excel files on your OneDrive.
  4. Pick a workbook + table from the picker. Your existing Excel tables show up automatically.
  5. For each sync rule, configure which form fields land in which Excel columns.

Two ways to use it:

  • **Excel as your primary destination**: Excel is where submissions land - Google Sheets isn't involved at all. Included in the Agency Growth and Agency Plus bundles, or available as the standalone Excel Primary add-on ($29/mo).
  • **Excel as a free mirror**: keep Google Sheets as the primary delivery and copy each submission into Excel alongside it. Free, no add-on required.

Security: your Microsoft refresh token is encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM) in WordPress options. The Azure client secret never ships in the plugin - OAuth refresh goes through SheetLink's hosted broker so the secret stays on our servers.

Why direct beats the CSV and sync workarounds

Before direct integration, getting WordPress form data into Excel meant one of three fragile workarounds: exporting CSV files by hand, syncing a Google Sheet into Excel on a delay, or wiring up Power Automate flows. Each one adds lag, breakage points, and manual cleanup.

SheetLink Forms removes the middle layer entirely. The moment a form is submitted, the row appears in your Excel table on OneDrive - the same workbook your team already opens in Excel desktop, Excel Online, or the mobile app. No export step, no sync interval, no second tool to babysit.

If you do want a copy in both places, you still can: run Google Sheets as primary and mirror into Excel for free, or run Excel as primary and skip Sheets altogether.

Getting started

  1. **Install SheetLink Forms** and open `SheetLink Forms -> Destinations -> Excel Online`
  2. **Connect your Microsoft 365 account** and pick a workbook + table from the picker
  3. **Add a sync rule**, set the primary destination to Excel, and map your form fields to Excel columns
  4. **Test** - submit a form entry and watch the row appear in your Excel table within seconds

Frequently Asked Questions

Can SheetLinkWP send data directly to Excel?

Yes. SheetLink Forms writes form submissions straight into an Excel Online workbook on OneDrive - no Google Sheets in the middle and no manual export. Connect a Microsoft 365 account, pick a workbook and table, and map your fields. Excel as the primary destination is in the Agency Growth and Agency Plus bundles or the $29/mo Excel Primary add-on; using Excel as a free mirror alongside Sheets needs no add-on.

How fast does data reach Excel?

In real time. The moment a form is submitted, SheetLink Forms posts the row to Microsoft Graph and it appears in your Excel table within seconds - no sync interval or polling delay.

Can I skip Google Sheets and go straight to Excel?

Yes. With Excel set as the primary destination (Agency Growth / Agency Plus, or the standalone Excel Primary add-on), Google Sheets isn't involved at all - submissions go straight to your Excel workbook.

What about desktop Excel (not Excel Online)?

It's the same workbook. SheetLink Forms writes to a workbook stored on OneDrive, which opens identically in Excel desktop, Excel Online, and the Excel mobile app. Rows added by SheetLink show up everywhere the workbook is open.
